Video commissioned by Daniel Sharp @ Lusso Luxury - demonstrating evasive driving techniques. Took place at an un-disclosed location in the midlands.
Fiat Cinquecento Turbo Promo
This is a fun video I made of my friend Alex's Fiat Cinq Turbo. He wanted a video for his myspace/facebook profile and I wanted to make a video of his car as its just bloody fast - I also wanted an excuse to use all of my camera kit - Sony A1, Mini cam, Jib/Crane as well as a host of camera mounts for in/on-car use. Shot using the DVCAM format instead of HDV, mostly because I wanted a consistant format timeline in FCP (A1 and Mini cam SD footage) and because HDV could have dropped frames when in the car. This car is running approx. 110bhp from a turbo-charged 1.1 engine. YouTube, for some reason, would not accept the video upload, however MySpace did, so check out the low-res preview to the left!
DeLorean Owners Club @ The Classic Car Show 2007 & Pilot 20
This is a video I've produced of the footage I got of the DeLorean Owners Club's stand at this years Classic Car Show, N.E.C, Birmingham. Main feature being a look at Pilot 20 - the 20th pre-production car originally sent to the USA for omissions testing. It was imported back to the UK by PJ Grady and the restoration began. Links of interest: DeLorean Owners Club & PJ Grady.
Hook Woods BikeTrials Spot on Ex-Tube
Here's the spot of BikeTrials at Hook Woods in Surrey that I produced for the Extreme Sports Channel. This is an actual recording from broadcast and so features the three lovely female presenters introducing the spot! Aired on Ex-Tube.
Ashton Bikes Promo
This is a short promotional video I have made for Ashton Bikes. It is in no way official or commissioned by Ashton Bikes. I was simply having a play about with this video. Features me riding my local skate park, beauty shots were shot using my mini-jib camera crane and I also used some colour correction to give the rushes a nice aesthetic.
Hook Woods BikeTrials for the Extreme Sports Channel
The first spot I have produced for broadcast. This is a three minute segment showing the highlights of a BikeTrials competition that happened at Hook Woods, a popular riding location in Surrey. Aired on the Extreme Sports Channel's 'magazine' show Ex-Tube.
DJ Memorial Ride 2007, Oxford.
A 15 minute video showcasing the memorial ride that happened in Abingdon, Oxford this year to celebrate the life of David Jones - a popular rider that was sadly killed in a hit and run car accident in 2004. Ride in Peace DJ!
Due to the large file size, this video has been kindly hosted by tv.isg.si.
Farnham Trials Short
A short video I made whilst in my local town. Wasn't shot on my HD camera as a friend was borrowing it at the time. Please forgive the poor quality from my Canon MV960 camcorder - its not too bad though.
Theatrical Stunt Show Promo
This was the final project I made as part of my degree at Uni. It showcases a stunt show in Cornwall that will be running until the end of August 2007.
De Lorean Owners Club UK Eurotec Highlights Video
A chilled-out video showing highlights from the Sunday of the DOC's first Eurotec event. The event was put on so that owners could fix any problems on their cars, if they had any! It was a also a great opportunity to mingle!
Bullet Cam Mess About
A fun little video I made using my Sony Bullet Cam. I stuck it to the side of my car in various positions and edited the footage.
DJ Memorial Ride Round-Up
This is a snappy video round-up of the memorial ride held in Portsmouth on 13th May 2007 for David Jones (DJ) who was killed in a tragic hit-and-run accident in 2004. RIP DJ! X
BBC Look East Spot 2
This was a news item BBC Look East did on why few young people vote. It was a mixed spot with myself, Leon and another rider from Basildon with skateboarders from another part of the east. Features some riding (skating and trials riding) as well as interviews. The fact that im a keen camera man was portrayed in this spot as well. Again, no YouTube link as I don't think something like this could be uploaded (BBC rights etc, don't want to risk anything). So, check it out, high quality .mov version below.
BBC Look East Spot 1
This was a news item BBC Look East did on Leon Neill, a rider from Basildon, Essex. Leon was a featured rider in the DVD I produced over the summer of 2006 and the journalist from the BBC (Anita Ramdharry) wanted to use some clips from Leon's DVD section. This is the spot that was broadcasted. No YouTube link as I don't think something like this could be uploaded (BBC rights etc, don't want to risk anything). So, check it out, high quality .mov version below.
Curb / Pavement Video
This was my entry into the curb video competition being held on trials-forum.co.uk. Riders were given the opportunity to just be as artistic as possible with the most basic of obstacles - curbs!
Mobile Clubbing Round-Up Video
I produced this as part of a solo Uni project. Loads of mobile clubbers gathered at Paddington train station to dance to their MP3 players, utter madness but amazing fun!
DeLorean Surprise DVD Extract
I produced this as part of a DVD for a client of delorean-hire.co.uk. The shots from inside the car came from my bullet camera, other shots were from my HDV camcorder, footage was
down-converted to standard-definition for the DVD. See the AV Podcast below for more information.
History of the DeLorean Owners Club
Whilst at the Classic Car Show 2006 I interviewed DeLorean Owners Club UK Historian, Chris Parnham. He gave a concise history and up to date report of this club where the average age of members is 27, which is 'unheard' of in any other classic car club.
DeLoreans @ Classic Car Show 06'
I travelled to the NEC in late 2006 to visit the DeLorean Owners Club stand at the Classic Car Show. I managed to get a press pass and got some decent footage and I made this little video for the club members to remember the show by.
DeLoreans @ Lex Birthday Party, Soho.
As part of a project that never went ahead, myself and two other students went to London to shoot these four DeLoreans that were invited as part of Lex Records's 5th Birthday party that was held at club '24', Kingley Street, Soho. Boom Bip & Gruff Rhys on the label were releasing an album entitled
'DeLorean' which included songs based on the life of John Z DeLorean.
Simon Says Yes - Comedy
This was a second year piece that I produced within my Uni group. Its a comedy drama about a guy who sufferes from OCD who wakes up one morning and can say nothing but 'yes' to any question that is asked to him. We follow him and the mess he gets into and the fun his house mate has when he discovers what is going on! A visit to the toilets eventually ends the 'yes' problem as well as his OCD. There is no YouTube version as the piece is too long to upload, so please download the high-res version below.
Redgrave Theatre Textures
Another sort of experimental piece I made in my local town. The Redgrave Theatre, now obandoned, is full of cracked and flaking paint, dead lights and wires. The wind blowing across the microphone added to the rustic aesthetics of this place. I also played with panning and how it can, in a funny sort of way, mess with the eyes.
Snow Mess Around
It began to snow so I got my camera and tripod out. That is basically the story behind this video! I experimented with my camera's depth of field as well.
Pizza
This was a random piece I made on a Monday lunchtime. It was an experimental video to play with editing techniques (inspired from Lars von Trier's 'The 5 Obstructions') using cuts that were no longer than 12 frames whilst incorporating the idea of fast food, in this case a pizza. Due to the editing techniques it turned out to give an almost stop-animation effect.
TAWT Team MTB Display Team Promo
Client Ian Drummond needed a promotional video for his team website. Shot in one afternoon the video produced a lot of interest and bookings for the team. Edited on Adobe Premiere 6.5 back in the PC days.
