2x GoPro HD Hero Cameras Ready To Rock!
Jul 29th

1080p/720p - 30/60fps Transcodable.
After purchasing one, I fell in love with it. I then purchased a second. Both from Dogcamsport. I am therefore equipped to be hired to shoot where 1080p (30fps, although transcoding isn’t an issue) or 720p (30/60fps) is required. Complete with grip, multiple batteries, 16GB SDHC cards and live-view from both cameras to assist with framing! Happy days!
I’ll be using the cameras at the up-coming FordFair being held @ Silverstone on Sunday 8th August!
My GoPro HD is on the way & live video out!
Jul 12th
I am incredibly slow on this, but I’ve just placed an order for my first GoPro HD with DogCamSport – check their website out, awesome cameras and second-to-none customer service!
I wanted to blog about this because I’ve been wanting one for months and months, but availability has been incredibly limited due to demand! GoPro themselves couldn’t make them fast enough, it seems!
There has also been talk about firmware. Since day one the GoPro HD has had no rear LCD screen so you couldn’t frame-up properly (i.e. see what the camera is actually looking at in order to get the shot you wanted). However, it has emerged that if you plug in a 12v power source and plug the AV cables in in the correct sequence, you can indeed get a live video feed out, so you can see what the camera is looking at! This is fantastic news! It would seem that GoPro have ‘hidden’ this in the firmware so that they themselves could do tests on the cameras for functionality, or alike. But it gets you wondering, if there is this opportunity for a live HD feed out of the camera, what is stopping you from recording an even higher bitrate source file onto a NanoFlash or similar device? Exciting times for sure! No doubt there will be lots of further progress on this! Below are two videos found on YouTube demonstrating the live video out. Enjoy
Inspirational interview with David Burnett

Here’s a great long interview with photographer David Burnett – I simply loved how old school he is and the kit he uses!

Trip To Porthcawl – Timelapse #5
Jul 11th
Here’s a video made up entirely of timelapse sequences shot with an old Canon 300D and an Intervalometer set @ 3sec intervals – rendered at 15fps and 25fps for editing. I went to Porthcawl in South Wales for Gavin Bedford’s funeral (a much loved Trials rider), rest in peace Gav x x – I decided to make this video to experiment a little more with timelapse, its also dedicated to Gavin. It includes a couple of sequences shot on the Porthcawl seafront and rocks.
New work added!

On this very hot Sunday I was doing some editing with the windows open, so I thought I’d setup another timelapse! Added to the DSLR page too. Enjoy

Home > Kingston Upon Thames > Home – Timelapse #2
Jun 22nd
Took a trip to Kingston Upon Thames to pick up a hard drive full of rushes, so I decided to TRY and make another timelapse from it. I’ve got an Intervalometer now, but my Canon 300D doesn’t seem to like it, 2sec intervals between photos taken turn into 4sec intervals, almost as if there’s a buffer problem on the camera. It is old, I need a new one. Video also added to the DSLR page.

Gavin Bedford R.I.P
Jun 20th
I had the terrible and unfortunate news yesterday that a Trials rider by the name of Gavin Bedford – very popular and much loved in the Trials community – passed away after a very bad accident at work. Gavin was in intensive care for approximately two days or so, but he sadly lost the battle and passed away – peacefully and not in pain. My thoughts are with his family, close friends and buddies at this truly difficult time.
Rest in Peace, Gavin Bedford xx
Timelapse Attempt #1
Jun 10th
Just completed my first timelapse attempt using my Canon 300D. Aperture Priority mode, no intervalometer so I was manually pressing the shutter release button every 2 seconds or so. All put together using QuickTime Pro and Final Cut Pro with CHV Time-Collection (Long Exposure) and Magic Bullet Mojo for Final Cut Pro. There is still a slight flickering effect, but I wasn’t happy with the completely clean-looking finished item, so I dialed down the CHV plugin a bit to give a little more ‘raw’ feel to it. Ambient soundtrack inspired by Rollo Hollins’s ( iamrollo.com ) initial timelapse experiments with his 5D Mk.II. Also added to the DSLR page.
